If you’ve been following the trend of creating your own Hackintosh (or HackPro) computer, you may have noticed that, no matter what speed you overclock your CPU to in the BIOS, the “About” window in Mac OS X shows a maximum of 3.41 GHz.

It’s another little hack, but there’s a way to change this. Just add the following string to the smbios.plist file in the extras folder (at the end is okay):

<key>SMmaximalclock</key> <string>4000</string> 

Check your “About” window to see the new value of 4.0 GHz.
